"Long suffering Paula is rapidly running out of patience with her nice but predictable and boring husband - so how will she react when he unexpectedly steps out of his comfort zone and buys her the most unusual birthday present ever?" 

ALTERNATE REALITY (10-minute Version) (2022) is a sci-fi comedy with 2 characters (1F, 1M or F). Jonathan's play initially received an "Honourable Mention" from Scriptwriters & Co in Bath at one of their 2021 Scratch Nights before being performed on Zoom at a Salisbury Fringe Scratch Night, prior to its publication by Lazy Bee Scripts in 2022.

The play was short-listed for the prestigious Short+Sweet play writing festivals in Sydney and Dubai before being selected for production at the Short+Sweet Hollywood festival in 2024. The initial Hollywood performances took place at the Victory Theater, Burbank, LA on 24 and 25 May 2024. It was performed there again on 7 June as one of the selected semi-finalists. Sadly, Jonathan's play just failed to make the finals but getting to the semi-finals of "the biggest short play festival in the world" out of over 1,400 submissions was a fantastic achievement.

Following on from the LA production, ALTERNATE REALITY was shortlisted for Short+Sweet Sydney 2025. Later that year, on 13 June, the play was declared joint-winner of the Theatre Royal's UNWRITTEN SHOWCASE in Winchester. As a result of this win, the Theatre Royal invited Jonathan to extend ALTERNATE REALITY into a 45-minute play for performance in a double-bill with the other winning play. The extended versions of both plays were performed on the main stage of the Theatre Royal on 29 August 2025. 

Jonathan is currently working on creating a full-length version of his play which he is hoping to have produced in 2026 or 2027.
